Job description

Knack Studio – Savannah is looking for a dedicated CERAMIC STUDIO ASSISTANT to become a member of our team. The ideal candidate should possess a strong interest in ceramics and a desire to learn the inner workings of a professional pottery studio.

This role requires basic understanding of the clay lifecycle and ceramic terminology. If you’re organized and hardworking, we can teach the rest!

Role and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for general studio cleaning (mopping, wiping table tops/walls, pottery wheels, aprons, studio tools and equipment)

  • Reclaiming clay (mixing, drying and operating pugmill)

  • Preparation of clay for one-time class and workshops (weighing clay & rolling slabs)

  • Trimming and glazing student work from one-time classes

  • Unloading kiln and kiln maintenance (vacuuming, kiln washing shelves, etc.)

  • Emptying clay trap and studio wash bin

  • Organizing and labeling classwork as it moves through the clay lifecycle

  • Willingness to learn and take direction.

  • Able to multitask and be pro-active, can work without supervision.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong desire to learn is a MUST.

  • A knack for art/all things creative would be helpful but is not required.

  • General understanding of clay terminology and studio equipment is required.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Schedule:

  • Part-Time

  • 3-4 hour shifts

  • Daytime & Evening shifts

Pay: 1x 3.5hr work/trade shift each week + $15/hr

STUDIO ASSISTANT may grow into CERAMIC INSTRUCTOR and/or ASSISTANT STUDIO MANAGER.
